ABOUT MEAcademic ExperiencesEducation Fall 2023: Ph.D. student, Environmental Science, Georgia Southern University - advisor Dr. Aaron W. Schrey MS Biology, Georgia Southern University - advisor Dr. Aaron W. Schrey BS Biology, Georgia Southern University, summa cum laude Research Master's thesis: Epigenetic buffering in introduced house sparrows I plan to continue investigating epigenetic mechanisms that facilitate introduction across species. I am mainly interested in how organisms use epigenetic mechanisms to respond to environmental novelty and perturbations. I have worked with vertebrates and I am also interested in invasive plants and invertebrates. I want to extend my skillset into additional epigenetic mechanisms, such as histone modifications. My specific research goals include investigating the following: (1) how invasive populations face novelty; (2) if the responses of invasive species are similar; (3) what role epigenetic potential plays in organismal responses to novelty; (4) if organisms facing urbanization have similar epigenetic responses as invaders; and (5) if epigenetic buffering is a common mechanism in populations inhabiting highly dynamic environments.
