Overview:
I have experience teaching a diverse age-range: preschoolers, elementary to middle schoolers, and introductory college-level students.
August 2023 to December 2023: Graduate Teaching Assistant, introductory biology lab for majors at Georgia Southern University Armstrong Campus
January 2020 to March 2020: Independent contractor, Tinkergarten® Leader
Most recently, I led Tinkergarten® classes for preschool-aged children. The Tinkergarten® curriculum was oriented around play-based exploration of outdoor classrooms. My responsibilities included directing outdoor play-based children’s classes, performing community outreach, and completing Tinkergarten® training courses.
October 2019 to March 2020: Volunteer Free Forest School leader
Free Forest School offers a similar play-based exploration of natural settings, with less direct instruction. My responsibilities included leading exploration-based children and caregiver hikes, participating in community outreach, monitoring safety conditions, researching local ecosystems for suitable play-spaces, and completing Free Forest School leader training.
January 2018 to May 2018: Dr. Starr Holland and the Tybee Island Fresh Air Home, Freelance Botany Curriculum Creator
I also have free-lanced a curriculum for a Georgia barrier island outdoor summer camp. The project intended to teach younger, inner-city students about barrier island and beach ecosystems in a playful setting. My responsibilities in the curriculum included creating lessons and activities for camp instructors about local plant biodiversity and ecosystems.
January 2013 to May 2013: Dr. Angie Koban, Classroom Practicum for Intro Psychology, Armstrong Atlantic State University
In Spring 2013, I completed a classroom practicum at Armstrong Atlantic State University under the guidance of Dr. Angie Koban. My responsibilities included presenting guest lectures, preparing class activities, leading class discussions, holding office hours for personalized tutoring, and hosting bi-weekly study sessions.
